Ice Bucket List.........Chapter 3

Why I love Top Gear, let me count the ways....well not really just Top Gear, I also love the Simpsons and Documentaries and 'Reality TV' and all sorts of visual media. I read some Damnyouautocorrect.com yesterday for the first time and found it a giggle, also sh*tmydadsays by Justin Halpern is a great adult chuckle. Justin's dad cracks me up, even if they are 'well written jokes'. That's the point. I don't care if it's "real" or not. What difference does it make. The art of editing any, or all of the footage together, makes the programme watchable.

I cried a few sniffly tears watching Jackie Stewart coach James May around a racetrack. Over 20 seconds cut from the Captain's initial lap time down to 2:06:74 seconds. Just by sitting next to him in the passengers seat and telling him exactly what to do when. Jackie shares his driving knowledge and skill with warmth and honesty. Humans pushing limits of personal courage and mechanical engineering, purely in pursuit of fun. Driving these machines fast around tracks is adrenaline seeking pleasure only. But the absolute joy and exhilaration these machines can, and do, add to the human experience of being alive is fundamental. Fun and mental.

Top Gear is hugely popular and widely watched. It is escapism at it's best. I guess the Stig is more than one person, but how cool would it be to do the 'lap' in a reasonably priced car! I think about 350 million people would agree with me!

Love to all xx
