Huddle Team. Well the news is bad. Some serious, involved play coming up. My colonoscopy was a total let-down, no need for the PET me thinks, so one less dose of radiation hey. There is always an up. Worst part of the game today was the Endoscopists face when he came to see me after the procedure. I reassured him it's ok, I get what is happening. He and the nurse nearly cried, I did not. Until later, with my gorgeous mum. Family all informed that the super-bowl is on. Back to see my Team Manager Onc on Tuesday at 4.30pm.....wait until then I suppose. I can guess three of my options, crappy chemo, crappy colostomy or crappiest HIPEC infusion (look it up, guaranteed to please).
Some James Geary always helps, I am sure he would feel proud not plagiarised;
SENECA (C.4 BCE-65)
According to Seneca, the Stoic responds to life's fragility by being prepared for the worst even in the midst of the best: Cling tooth and nail to the following rule: not to give in to adversity, never to trust prosperity, and always take full note of fortune's habit of behaving just as she pleases, treating her as if she were actually going to do everything it is in her power to do. Whatever you have been expecting for some time comes as less of a shock.
It is in no man's power to have whatever he wants; but he has it in his power not to wish for what he hasn't got, and cheerfully make the most of the things that do come his way.
AMEN to that, love to all xx
Amen to that from me too! You said you were feeling physically better recently...is that still true? I do hope so! Thank you for all your kind words and support, my friend...right back at you!
ReplyDeleteGroup hug coming your way Juanita...(((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteI love 'Seneca' above but the last sentence 'and cheerfully make the most of the things that do come his way' is great...... BUT sometimes, *just* sometimes, I feel the need to whinge, to feel a little sorry for myself, to think 'It's NOT bloody fair'...
I can do the 'cheerfully' bit - usually... I can find some humour in everything - usually..... just not always.
Hey! I'm not perfect - but I can live with that (if only) LOL
Angel & Carole
ReplyDeleteThank you both. If James Lipton asked me the question "what is your least favourite word" my answer would be "fair". I fail to see real examples of fair. It's NOT bloody fair Love to you xx
Positive thoughts coming your way Juanita! I also love the Seneca notion in that I have a similar thought to always expect the worst so that life will be full of pleasant surprises rather than huge letdowns. That is not to say I still can't be disappointed at times. Sure is good to hear good news as well.
ReplyDeleteI will be thinking of you on Tuesday to hear a pleasant surprise!
