Pumped up Kicks and Jackin' it to Jesus

Pumped up Kicks and Jackin' it to Jesus. How language evolves, makes you laugh, makes you confused, can be misunderstood. Words speak of a culture or of a generation or create a picture or evoke a connection.

Pumped up Kicks are fancy shoes. Brand name runners like Nike or Reebok. Although fashion and brand names change so quickly, Nike and Reebok are probably NOT pumped up kicks. The other 'semi-quote' is not verbatim. It was way funnier. And more endearing. A one-off, heart felt statement by a pageant hairdresser.

As she teased a very young contestants hair she said something like - in the most heavy Southern Belle accent - 'where I'm from we think the higher the hair the closer you are to the Lord, or as I like to call it Jackin' it to Jesus.' Hilarious. Words and phrases can be so telling of so many facets of a human race. The pumped up kicks is a new song title, about the tragedy of an american school shooting. The targets were the kids with the pumped up kicks. Jackin' it to Jesus is from Toddlers and Tiara's, a world-wide controversy also.

Words - they are our way of getting the world to listen in any way possible and to leave our indelible mark.

Hall of Fame entry to come of course Team.  Beautiful tribute by Alli, all my love to Cheryl and her family. She lives on through all of us.

Love to all xx
